Independent Practice provides the following services to its members:
- Provision of support and network opportunities through regional groups and this web site.
- Provision of information pack for new members to assist them in setting up their business
- Production of a twice-yearly bulletin and interim newsletters which keep members up to date with news and developments, and which enables the exchange of information between members.
- Organisation of an annual conference and study days.
- Production of the annually updated membership list with details of regional groups and specialist areas. This is a private document for members only.
- Liaison with the College of Occupational Therapists to:
- Promote members' interests and assist the College in its business through the Specialist Sections Fora, boards, committees, and working parties.
- Work towards ensuring that services provided by the College of Occupational Therapists are relevant to occupational therapists working in independent practice.
- Update relevant standards and procedures as required
- Promote the maintenance of good standards of practice amongst independent practitioners working outside the statutory services.
